Abstract

The difference between the religious orientation of the shari'ah and Tariqah has implications in the form of tensions and polemics between them with mutual alleges that his opponent is manipulative, religion, therefore they are called heretics. Instead, they are fighting over a claim as the most correct. Accordingly, Ibn Taymiyya asked many critical responses in many ways which is no exception about Sufism. At least there are two things that as the core ideas of Sufism of Ibn Taymiyyah. The second thing is about the validity of Sufism as a way to take the truth (Sufism), as well as the practices of Sufism and growing congregation that time. In assessing Sufism, Ibn Taymiyyah is more moderate (take the middle path), between those who consider Sufism as the only way to get closer to the true God, and those who consider it heresy. According to Ibn Taymiyyah, the best attitude in assessing Sufism or everything else is receiving things in accordance with the Qur'an and  Assunnah and reject the things that are contrary to both. While the Practice of Sufism (the Order). Ibn Taymiyya admitted that the trustee has the miracles, but it does not guarantee that person become Ma'shum of errors, and not exempt from the Shari'ah.
