Abstract

Curriculum is a set of plans and settings about objectives, contents, materials and strategies used as a fundamental of teaching learning process to reach education goals. Being curriculum urgency, curriculum is always evaluated and revised every certain time. Then it is adjusted with knowledge development, technology development and market needs. As education happen in Indonesia at the moment, about the changing of curriculum 2006 to curriculum 2013, curriculum 2013 is a curriculum which is developed to improve competences as the goal such as knowledge, attitude and skill. The implementation of curriculum 2013, especially elementary school, applies integrative thematic teaching approach for grade 1 to grade 6. Integrative thematic approach is a teaching approach which integrating some competences from some subjects to teaching themes applying some steps, such as deciding theme, mapping basic competences, indicators, arranging theme nets, syllabi and lesson plans. Integrative thematic approach intends to motivate students to be more creative in doing observation, questioning, thinking, communicating the materials which are obtained after teaching learning process and applying them in daily life.
