Abstract

Teacher certification is the process of giving educator certificates to teachers. Educator certificates for teachers are given to teachers who have met teacher professional standards, and are an absolute requirement to create a quality education system and practice. Teachers who have obtained an educator certificate will receive professional allowances as a logical consequence of the recognition of their competencies. With such efforts, it is expected that the quality of education can be improved. Given the importance of teacher competence in relation to the quality of education, a study was conducted on the competencies of Islamic Education teachers at Al-Kautsar MTs in Ranggo Village, Pajo District, Dompu District before and after obtaining an educator certificate. To obtain the required data, the researcher uses several research methods, namely: Observation Method, Interview Method / Interview (Structured Interview and Unstructured Interview) and Documentation Method. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that; (1) Portrait of competence of MTs Al-Kautsar PAI teachers in Ranggo Village, Pajo Subdistrict, Dompu District before participating in the certification program does not yet have the expected competencies in the teaching and learning process, (2) Portrait of PAI teacher competencies Pajo District, Dompu Regency already has the ability to implement the teaching and learning process in accordance with the expected competencies, namely pedagogical, personal, professional and social competence.
