Abstract
ABSTRACTBaghdad was the capital of the Abbasid Dynasty which was founded in 762 AD by the caliph Abu Jafar al-Mansur (754-775 AD). The city is located on the banks of the Tigris River. The golden age of this city occurred during the reign of Caliph Harun Al-Rashid (786-809 AD) and his son Al-Makmun (813-833 AD). The city has many Kuttabs (secondary schools), Madrasas (colleges), Darul Hikmah (National Library), large mosques and Muhadharah congregations, which include figures such as Abu Ishak Al-Kindi, Abu Nashr Al-Faraby, Ibn Bajah, Ibn. Thufail and Al-Ghazali in the field of philosophy, Abu Zakaria Yuhana bin Maswaih, Sabur bin Sahal, Abu Zakaria Ar-Razy in the field of medicine, Al-Khwarizmi who discovered the number zero and the father of algebra in the field of mathematics, and hundreds of others in the field of pharmacy.
