This study aims to describe the implementation and impact of the Panca Jiwa (Five Souls) values in shaping the character of students at Ihyaul Qur’an Nururrahman Islamic Boarding School, Malang Regency. Using a qualitative method with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques, the research reveals that the values of sincerity (ikhlas), simplicity, independence, Islamic brotherhood (ukhuwah Islamiyah), and freedom of thought are integrally internalized into students’ daily activities, the educational curriculum, and social interactions within the pesantren. The findings show that sincerity and simplicity are nurtured through the habituation of daily worship; independence is reflected in self-management and personal responsibility; Islamic brotherhood develops through collective social activities; while freedom of thought is fostered through discussion methods and peer tutoring. The impact of these values is evident in the students’ increased discipline, sense of responsibility, social empathy, and spiritual growth. The integration of technology in the learning process also supports character development in a contemporary context. This study reinforces the theory of character education based on a socio-religious environment and demonstrates that the Panca Jiwa values are not merely normative doctrines, but are practiced as a way of life that holistically shapes students' personalities.
Umar Al FaruqNur ArifuddinA.
This study aims to analyze human resource management in an Islamic educational institution located in Purbalingga. It focuses on exploring the strategic steps employed by Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Purbalingga to align teacher development with the school’s vision, mission, and goals. Using a qualitative case‐study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document review involving purposively selected school leaders: the principal, vice‐principal, and teaching and administrative staff. The findings reveal six strategic steps: (1) socialization and internalization of the vision and mission by teachers; (2) integration of HR development programs based on needs assessments; (3) strengthening pedagogical competence, Islamic character, and technological literacy; (4) alignment of performance appraisal with institutional success indicators; (5) emphasis on sustainability through digital evaluation and monitoring cycles; and (6) consistent policy support embedded in strategic planning and budgeting documents. The implementation of these steps successfully establishes strategic alignment, enhances teacher professionalism and spirituality, and contributes to improved teaching quality and student character development. These findings enrich the Strategic Human Resource Development framework by adding a religious dimension in the context of Islamic education and produce an adaptive six-step conceptual model for use in other madrasahs.
To'in AsngadMuh.
Amidst the urgency of producing adaptive and competent graduates in the era of globalization, this study examines the implementation of managerial practicum integrated with Islamic values in pesantren-based Islamic Higher Education, an area still underexplored in the literature. Therefore, this research aims to explore the strategies and contributions of the Islamic Education Management Practicum (PMPI-II) program in enhancing students' managerial competencies within this environment. The research employs a qualitative case study approach. Data collection involves in-depth interviews, participant observation (with the researcher acting as Field Supervising Lecturer - DPL), and documentation study. Data analysis follows the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. The study's findings reveal four main strategies of PMPI-II: needs identification & program planning, implementation, active coordination & communication, and periodic monitoring & evaluation. These strategies demonstrate alignment with principles of program management, strategic planning, and Stakeholder Theory. PMPI-II significantly contributes to improving students' planning skills, administrative task execution, communication, and coordination. Through experiential learning, the program also fosters an Islamic professional character, encourages adaptation to pondok culture, and instills the values of ta'dzim (respect) and musyawarah (deliberation). Consequently, PMPI-II emerges as an effective model for value-based managerial competence development in the pesantren environment.
Novi Ariyanti

https://ejournal.kopertais4.or.id/mataraman/index.php/tarbiyatuna/article/view/6144

In the 5.0 era, language has become a highly urgent matter, and Arabic is one of the languages used by people around the world. One of the main reasons students struggle to learn Arabic today is the lack of use of instructional media that can help them understand the material more easily and enjoyably. In fact, the use of media in learning greatly supports the effective implementation of the teaching and learning process. Flash cards are considered one of the effective instructional media in helping students understand Tarkib material, as they allow students to construct and interpret vocabulary independently. This enables students to learn independently and think more critically. This study aims to determine whether flash cards have a significant effect on learning outcomes in the Arabic Tarkib subject at SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Kepanjen. As part of an experimental approach, this study involves the use of pre-test and post-test to measure changes in learning outcomes. The research data were analyzed using SPSS version 26.0 for Windows. Based on the t-test results, the significance values (Sig. 2-tailed) were 0.038 for post-test data and 0.026 for gain score data. Since both values are less than 0.05, H₀ is rejected and Hₐ is accepted. This indicates that the use of flash card instructional media has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Arabic Tarkib material.
Yudisthira Ade Hermansyah

https://ejournal.kopertais4.or.id/mataraman/index.php/tarbiyatuna/article/view/6234

The era of digital disruption, marked by the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), has significantly impacted various aspects of life, including the Islamic education system. In this context, the family as the first and foremost educational institution is confronted with both new challenges and opportunities in instilling Islamic values in the younger generation. This article aims to examine the urgency of developing a family-based Islamic education model that is adaptive to the advancement of digital technology and AI. This study employs a literature review method with a multidisciplinary approach, which includes: (1) an exploration of classical and contemporary literature on the concept of family education in Islam; (2) a normative analysis of the primary sources of Islamic teachings, namely the Qur’an and Hadith, concerning the role and responsibilities of the family in education; and (3) a contextual analysis of the dynamics, challenges, and opportunities facing Muslim family education in the modern 21st century. The findings of this study indicate that effective family education in the digital age requires the integration of foundational Islamic values with parenting and educational strategies that are responsive to technological developments. Moreover, it necessitates a family education model that is not only normatively grounded but also adaptive to the changing times, collaborative between families and their environments, and contextualized to the social realities of today’s Muslim communities.
Risqiatul HasanahAni Cahyadi Maseri

https://ejournal.kopertais4.or.id/mataraman/index.php/tarbiyatuna/article/view/6084

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia, having undergone continuous development and transformation while maintaining their relevance within the national education system. One area with a high concentration of pesantren is Ganjaran Village, located in Gondanglegi Subdistrict, Malang Regency, widely recognized as a “Santri Village.” However, academic studies that specifically identify and classify the typology of pesantren in this area remain limited. This study, therefore, aims to comprehensively inventory all pesantren in Ganjaran Village and examine their typologies based on established theories of Islamic boarding school education and their alignment with national educational regulations. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was employed. Data were collected through village archival documentation, official pesantren websites, internal institutional documents, in-depth interviews, and field observations. Data analysis was conducted using pattern matching and cross-case synthesis techniques to identify classification patterns based on historical dimensions, learning systems, leadership, legal status, and socio-religious influence. The findings reveal the presence of 24 active pesantren in Ganjaran Village. The oldest was established in 1908, and the most recent in 2023. All institutions follow a traditional (salafiyah) system, with most still under the leadership of their respective founders. While the majority are equipped with relatively complete facilities, some lack formal operational permits. Generally, most pesantren exert considerable religious influence extending beyond Java Island, although none have more than one thousand resident students. These findings contribute to the academic understanding of pesantren diversity within a single village context and offer valuable insights for the development of community-based Islamic education policies.
Abdurrahman AbdurrahmanBadrul Arifin

https://ejournal.kopertais4.or.id/mataraman/index.php/tarbiyatuna/article/view/6098

This study examines Arabic learning innovations through Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) applied by teachers at the Darul Ukhuwah For Girl 2 Islamic Boarding School Malang. An important issue behind this research is the interest in learning Arabic which is often considered difficult and monotonous, as well as the need to increase the relevance and success of language teaching in the context of Islamic education. Therefore, this research is relevant to be discussed to explore how CLIL can be an innovative solution to overcome these challenges and achieve the goal of the boarding school in producing students who are proficient in Arabic. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews with teachers, classroom observations, and analysis of related documents. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively describe the teacher's experience, the learning strategies applied, and the challenges faced in the implementation of CLIL. The results showed that CLIL significantly increased teacher motivation because learning felt more meaningful and contextual. Teachers apply various strategies ranging from the preparation of an integrated syllabus, the use of varied methods, visual media, communicative approaches, scaffolding, to integrated evaluation in the classroom. However, challenges such as the heterogeneity of student understanding, difficulties in interpreting the vocabulary of interpretation, and the adaptation of teachers from outside the boarding school were also found. Overall, CLIL has been proven to be able to arouse students' interest in learning Arabic and improve their language skills naturally, supporting the achievement of Islamic boarding school educational goals.
Wardiyatul HusnaFaisal Mahmoud Adam IbrahimZakiyah Arifa

https://ejournal.kopertais4.or.id/mataraman/index.php/tarbiyatuna/article/view/6236

Digital transformation in education presents strategic opportunities for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, which are now increasingly being integrated into the development of educational systems and learning processes within Islamic education environments. This article aims to explore in depth the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning in Islamic learning, with a focus on identifying ethical challenges and formulating integrative strategies grounded in the values of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah and the principle of wasathiyyah in the development of educational digital technology systems. AI has been proven to enhance learning personalization, administrative efficiency, and accessibility to a wide range of religious materials. However, the adoption of this technology also raises various ethical dilemmas, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and the potential marginalization of the teacher’s role as the primary educator. Using a theoretical approach based on wasathiyyah and the Islamic ethical framework, this article develops an evaluative model for AI implementation to ensure alignment with Islamic values and the cultivation of students' spiritual character. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach through a literature review of verified academic sources discussing the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic education, in order to examine its concepts, benefits, challenges, and ethical-spiritual dimensions
Surya Eka PriyatnaAni Cahyadi Maseri
