Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the guided inquiry model in enhancing elementary school students' critical thinking skills. A meta-analysis approach was employed, where researchers systematically reviewed the findings of published research from nationally accredited official sites related to the use of the guided inquiry model in learning and critical thinking skills of elementary school students. The research sample consisted of 15 national journals published between 2019 and 2023, focusing on experimental research using the guided inquiry model to improve students' critical thinking skills. A quantitative descriptive approach was used by calculating the effect size of 12 articles to identify the mean, standard deviation, and variance in the t-test. The results of the analysis showed that overall, the average effect size was 0.82, which can be categorized as high. Of the twelve articles analyzed, it was found that the greatest influence of the guided inquiry model was on critical thinking skills.
