IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES IN COUNTING NUMBER OPERATIONS AND REDUCTION OF ROUND NUMBERS USING BEAD MEDIA IN CLASS IV STUDENTS IN SD NEGERI 3 CENTRAL SPOTS FROM CENTRAL SPOTS

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to improve student learning outcomes in operations of addition and subtraction of integers using bead media in fourth grade students of SD Negeri 3 Sekotong Tengah.This type of research is a collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were students in grade IV SD Negeri 3 Sekotong Tengah with a total of 24 students. The research model is carried out by the Kemmis and Mc. Taggart. The action research was conducted in 2 cycles, the first cycle consisted of two meetings and the second cycle consisted of two meetings. In each cycle there are planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting activities. Data collection methods used are observation, testing and documentation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively qualitative and quantitative descriptive.The results showed that the use of bead media can improve student learning outcomes in the sum calculation operations and the reduction of integers in class IV SD Negeri 3 Sekotong Tengah. Before being given the action shows that student learning outcomes are still low. The average grade of the class only reached 58.96 and the percentage of students completing the KKM was 41.67%. After being subjected to cycle I action, the grade average grade increased to 77.92 and the percentage of students completing KKM became 70.83%. Similarly, after being subjected to action in the second cycle the average value of the class increased to 86.25 and the percentage of completeness of students who had reached the KKM increased to 91.67%. In addition, the results of observation of student activity also increased from cycle I to cycle II. In the first cycle the percentage of student activity amounted to 54.77% and in the second cycle increased to 86.54%.
