Ma'ruf ahmadm4ruf@gmail.com <p>This study analyzes the concept of moral education according to Ibnu Miskawaih and Hamka. The main focus of this research includes: (1) examining the concept of moral education as proposed by Ibnu Miskawaih and Hamka, (2) identifying the similarities and differences between their perspectives, and (3) exploring the relevance of their concepts of moral education to contemporary education. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research methods. The findings indicate several differences in the foundations, content, and methods of moral education between the two thinkers. However, both share a common goal: the formation of behavior, character, and noble personality (akhlaqul karimah) that emerges naturally within individuals. The core issue addressed in this research is the suboptimal utilization of local values to support a sustainable halal tourism ecosystem, despite Banyuwangi’s abundant natural and cultural resources. The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the development opportunities for halal tourism in Banyuwangi through local wisdom. This qualitative research employs a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews with academics, tourism industry stakeholders, and tourists, alongside field observations and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model with validity ensured through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. Findings indicate that although Banyuwangi is not yet formally designated as a halal tourism destination, halal tourism practices have organically developed through the religious values of the Osing community and their environmental preservation efforts. That efforts to increase imtaq are not only the duties of Islamic religious education teachers (PAI), but also the duties of other teachers and all other school </em><em>residents, even all related parties. One of the ways that can be taken is to combine the subject matter with imtaq values</em></p> <p><em>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Islam's motivation in developing science and technology is very large. This is evident from the words of Allah and the hadith of the Prophet which states that knowledge is very important and Allah loves His servants who are knowledgeable and will even raise their degree. The two levels of Islamic education that are taught in both areas are essentially Kuttab, which covers fundamental and intermediate knowledge. Following Baghdad and Constantinople, Spain was the unrivaled hub of Islamic science and culture at the time. It is therefore not surprising that other European countries started traveling to this Andalusian nation at that time in order to study a variety of disciplines from Spanish Muslims by reading books authored by Andalusian experts in both public and private settings. From 881 to 1091 AD, Islam dominated Sicily. Hadist, sebagai sumber ajaran Islam kedua setelah Al-Qur'an, memberikan prinsip-prinsip dasar yang mendorong umat Islam untuk mencari dan mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan. Salah satu contohnya adalah hadist yang menyatakan bahwa menuntut ilmu adalah kewajiban bagi setiap Muslim, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan. Selain itu, hadist-hadist lain menekankan pentingnya berpikir, mengamati, dan meneliti alam semesta, yang menjadi landasan bagi pengembangan sains dan teknologi. Para ilmuwan Muslim terdahulu, seperti Ibnu Sina dan Al-Khawarizmi, terinspirasi oleh ajaran-ajaran ini dan memberikan kontribusi signifikan dalam berbagai bidang ilmu pengetahuan. Salah satu aspeknya adalah munculnya profesionalisasi guru agama atau dai yang menerima imbalan atau upah atas aktivitas mengajar. Meskipun dalam sejarah Islam, pengajaran agama awalnya dilakukan secara sukarela dan tanpa mengharapkan materi, perkembangan zaman dan kebutuhan sosial-ekonomi menyebabkan munculnya praktik menerima upah dalam bidang ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pandangan historis dan normatif terkait penerimaan upah dalam pengajaran agama Islam. Melalui pendekatan studi pustaka, penelitian ini menelusuri berbagai teks klasik dan pendapat para ulama, baik di era klasik maupun kontemporer, untuk memahami bagaimana fenomena komodifikasi ini dipandang dalam konteks etika Islam. Secara khusus, pembahasan ini menyajikan perbandingan antara praktik masa sahabat, pandangan mazhab-mazhab fiqh, dan pendapat ulama kontemporer mengenai hukum dan etika menerima upah dalam mengajarkan agama. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa meskipun beberapa mazhab membolehkan penerimaan upah, prinsip utama dalam pengajaran agama adalah keikhlasan dan niat untuk mendekatkan diri kepada Allah.
