Abstract

Humans were created as social servants of God. Cultural shifts and changing times make man forget his identity as a servant and only remember that he is a social creature. The result of this neglect is that humans interact without regard to the values taught by Allah in the Qur'an. This conceptual idea writing analyzes thematically the verses of the Qur'an which refer to humans as servants with 3 titles ‘abdun, ‘abid, and ‘ibad using Arabic language rules. From the analysis of each word, the writer finds that the first word is addressed in the mention of the Prophet, and the pious servants who surrender themselves to Allah. The second word is addressed to the servant who carries out God's commands and steers clear of his prohibition. The third word is addressed to people who reach the highest level of servitude with the character of having a calm heart. Self-awareness of its essence as a servant will take humans to the level of making worship not only maintain its bond with God, but also maintain its bond with fellow beings in every interaction.
