Abstract

Dehumanization of women has occurred on the historical stage, maybe even up to now, both in the western world and the Islamic world. even though at the same time the Koran as its holy book normatively respects women. This can be seen from how the Qur'an strictly views men and women as equals (al-musawah).Along with gender issues that are increasingly being voiced by women activists, both on a local, national, regional and even international scale, a Muslim feminist figure from the United States emerged named Amina Wadud Muhsin. He tries to carry out a methodological reconstruction of how to interpret the Koran in order to produce an interpretation that is gender sensitive and just.As for the method for finding the general principles of the Koran in contextualization with the current situation of women, Amina adopted Rahman's method which is known as the double movement.
