THE EFFECTIVENESS OF MINI-STORY LESSON TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING SPEAKING AT STUDENTS OF YAQIN ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL IN PEMONDAH-JEROWARU

Abstract

This study attempts to find the effectiveness of Mini-Story Lesson technique in teaching speaking at the students of Yaqin Islamic Boarding School in Pemondah-Jerowaru. To know whether this technique is effective or not, the writer used pre-experimental study applied at the 7th grade students of Yaqin Islamic boarding school in Pemondah-Jerowaru and used only one class that is 8th class as the sample. The study had been done in four meetings that were designed: first meeting was pre-test, two meetings for treatments, and the last meeting was post-test. The writer analyzed the data by using t-test. The result showed that there was significant on the students’ speaking achievement and taught through Mini-Story Lesson. The students’ mean score of pre-test score is 49. 59, then the students’ means score of post-test is 61.1. In other words, the Mini-Story Lesson technique is effective in teaching speaking skill at the second students of Yaqin Islamic Boarding School in Pemondah-Jerowaru.
