TRADISI KAJIAN KEAGAMAAN DALAM ISLAM (TELAAH ATAS PEMIKIRAN CHARLES J. ADAMS)
Abstract
Kajian terhadap fenomena keagamaan berarti mengkaji prilaku manusia yang terkait dengan kehidupan beragamanya. Fenomena keagamaan berarti sikap dan pandangan manusia yang tidak saja berkaitan dengan sisi normatif-dogmatif akan tetapi juga pada aspek histroris-sosiologis. Maka pengkajian terhadap agama –termasuk Islam- berarti semacam pengujian secara terus menerus atas fakta-fakta empirik dalam masyarakat beragama. Oleh karena agama dianggap sesuatu yang asasi dan sensitif, maka pengkajian pada sisi empirisnya tidak saja menuntut kehatian-hatian tetapi juga proprsionalitas. Yaitu bagaimana dan atau dimana agama itu didudukkan dalam kajian. Atau dengan kata lain peneliti agama harus dapat memilih dan memilah “apa objek dari kajian agama?†dan “bagaimana metode serta perangkat keilmuan dalam kajiannya? Kesalahan dalam menentukan objek dan metode tersebut dapat mendatangkan kerancauan bahkan kesalahan dalam penafsirannya.
