Efektivitas “Punishment” Sebagai Instrumen Memodifikasi Perilaku Remaja

Abstract

This writting tries to discribe and analyze theory of punishment in learning process. According to Burrhus Frederic Skinner, “punishment is not effective to modify bad behavior and man can not be demanded to be responsible on their actionsâ€. John Staddon claims that the rise of junevile deliquency and law breaker becoused of bad effect of Skinner’s opinion. Staddon said, “punishment helps, quicker and more effective that other methods. It is better than rewards at stopping unwanted actions.†     The writting focuses its analysis on an Islamic theory of punishment. Islam uses positive theory on punishment. Punishment approach is used as a instrument to modify bad behavior of students, but there are several important things must be given attention before using punishment in Islam as follow: (1) base and purpose of punishment in Islam;  (2) method of punishment of Islam; (3) requirements of punishment using in Islam; (4) phase of punishment using in Islam.
