Abstract

Learning outcomes are a very important indicator to determine student success in understanding courses. Learning outcomes are also an important indicator used to evaluate whether or not the courses taught have been achieved. The success of students in understanding the course shows that the learning carried out by the lecturer has been successful. The aim of this research is to find out the relationship between initial abilities and student learning outcomes in economic and business statistics courses in the Sharia economics study program, Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary State Islamic University, Padangsidimpuan. Initial ability is one of the factors that influences learning outcomes. This research uses a quantitative approach. The research sample was 60 students spread across several classes. This research uses random sampling technique. The research results show that there is a positive relationship between initial abilities and learning outcomes in economic and business statistics courses. The implications of these findings provide a basis for improving the quality of students in future employment.
