Strategi Pengelolaan dan Penerapan Disiplin Kelas oleh Guru di SDN Duren 3 Karawang
Abstract
Quality human resources are a crucial element in achieving progress, strength, prosperity and welfare of a country. Improving the quality of human resources cannot be separated from education issues. Mulyasa (2006) identified three main components in educational development that contribute to the quality of human resources, namely: (1) building facilities, (2) quality books, and (3) professional teachers. Teachers play a central role in successful learning in schools and student development. In the classroom, teachers carry out two main activities: teaching and managing the class, which aims to create an optimal learning environment. Classroom management includes arranging physical facilities and routines, as well as efforts to maintain classroom conditions that are conducive to effective and efficient learning. This research was carried out at SDN Duren 3 Karawang to identify management strategies and implementation of classroom discipline by teachers. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The research results show that teachers at SDN Duren 3 Karawang prepare a conducive learning environment through careful learning planning, comfortable classroom arrangements, and implementation of class rules agreed upon with students. School support, parental involvement, and adequate facilities are the main supporting factors, while differences in student characteristics and lack of student attention are obstacles that need to be overcome. Teachers also apply discipline effectively by being role models, providing fair sanctions, and building good communication with students. This research is expected to improve teacher performance in implementing learning and classroom management.
