Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan manajemen Pondok Pesantren Hudaya Sukopuro Diwek Jombang dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kitab kuning. Kitab kuning merupakan rujukan utama dalam pendidikan pesantren tradisional yang memerlukan keterampilan khusus karena ditulis dalam bahasa Arab tanpa harakat. Fokus penelitian mencakup lima aspek manajemen, yaitu santri, kurikulum, sumber daya manusia (SDM), sarana prasarana, dan keuangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fungsi manajemen yang meliputi perencanaan, pengorganisasian, pelaksanaan, dan pengawasan dilaksanakan secara efektif dan berdampak signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan membaca kitab kuning. Kegiatan pembelajaran seperti madrasah diniyah, bandongan, sorogan, musyawarah harian, dan musyawarah kubro menjadi sarana utama dalam membentuk keterampilan membaca dan memahami isi kitab. Manajemen santri dilakukan melalui pengelompokan kelas berdasarkan kemampuan, kurikulum disusun secara bertingkat, SDM terlibat aktif, serta didukung sarana prasarana yang memadai dan sistem keuangan yang transparan. Abstract This study aims to describe the management of Pondok Pesantren Hudaya Sukopuro Diwek Jombang in improving students’ ability to read kitab kuning (classical Islamic texts). Kitab kuning serves as a primary reference in traditional Islamic boarding school education and requires specific skills to read, as the texts are written in Arabic without vowel markings. The research focuses on five key aspects of management: student affairs, curriculum, human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and financial management. A qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach was used, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the management functions of planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision are carried out effectively and contribute significantly to enhancing students’ competence in reading kitab kuning. Learning activities such as madrasah diniyah, bandongan, sorogan, daily discussions (musyawarah harian), and large group discussions (musyawarah kubro) are the main instruments for developing reading accuracy, content comprehension, and the ability to express the content. Student management is carried out through class grouping based on reading ability. The curriculum is structured progressively, human resources are actively involved, and the process is supported by adequate facilities and transparent financial management.
